DWIH, New Delhi organised a German Higher Education and Research Session on 28th of February 2015 (10.00-15.00) at Swatantrata Bhawan, IIT-BHU, Varanasi on the eve of Technex 2015 - the annual student techfest of IIT-BHU. The event started with popular lectures by guest speakers - Prof. Benedikt Kaufer, Freie Universität Berlin and by Dr. Shree Prakash Pandey, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata. The lectures were followed by a lively panel discussion about living and working in Germany. The panelists included faculty from BHU with experience of working in Germany, guest speakers, scientists and representatives from German organisations who are alumni of prestigious German Universities presently working in India. Students got an opportunity to interact with the panelists and DWIH consortium representatives and learnt about the various programs offered by German Universities and research organisations at different stages of an academic career from International Master’s Program, PhD and Post-Doctoral opportunities and possibilities of scientific collaborations for established researchers. The lectures and panel discussion was attended by students and faculty of BHU with a total count of more than 70 participants.
The event was organised by Indian representatives of Freie Universität Berlin (Ms. Sanju Kumari) and Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Dr. Proteeti Bhattacharjee) with support from DWIH and extensive help from the student organizing committee of Technex 2015. The organisers would like to thank all DWIH consortium members (DFG, DAAD, FU Berlin, University of Göttingen, University of Cologne, University of Heidelberg, FZ Juelich, MPG) who participated at this event.
