The German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH, New Delhi) participated in an outreach activity to Guwahati on 7th and 8th September this year. Organised by DAAD, the 2-day event included a visit to the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (IIIT-G).
Focussed on collaboration, the agenda for this event involved meeting the authorities at both the institutes to discuss ideas for sustainable future cooperation, visiting various departments and organising info-sessions on opportunities for Study and Research in Germany for students. Apart from this, the delegation which comprised of the DAAD, DWIH and DWIH members, also introduced their respective organizations to the institutes and discussed ways for possible synergy.
Hosted on the 1st day of the visit, the info-session on Study and Research in Germany saw a participation of around 400. A panel discussion was also organised as a part of this session which was soon followed by individual one-on-one interaction between students and members of the delegation. The members, in addition, visited the Centre for Environment and the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering on Day 2 at IIT. Further, a meeting with Prof. Gautam Barua, Director – IIIT Guwahati, gave members a scope to deliberate over various research cooperation and exchange opportunities with this relatively new and one of the 20 institutes set up by the Central Government in a public-private mode. An info-session for students preceding another session for the faculty was held at the IIIT on the same day.
